NDA:-Police quiz Delta pastor for allegedly funding Avengerago

– Police interrogated a cleric in
Warri over alleged sponsoring of
the militant group in Niger Delta
– The man of God was also
accused of harboring weapons in
church and at home
– However, the police didn’t find
anything after the search was
conducted in his residences
A bishop of a new generation
church in Warri was quizzed by the
Delta state police detectives over
reported sponsoring of the militant
group Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).
The Punch reports that the bishop
(name suspended), comes from
Ogbinbiri community of Egbema
(Ijaw) Kingdom in the Warri North
council area of the state and is the
presiding bishop of the New
Salvation Zion Church of Christ at
Igbodu area of the city.
The police insiders told reporters
that the church leader was
summoned for questioning after two
petitions supposing that he was
sponsoring the Avengers.
The interrogation was conducted at
the Warri area command of the
Delta state police command.
The prominent man of God was
quizzed from 8am to about 8pm
last week July 13, before he was
permitted to go and directed to
report the following day for further
interrogation.
A closed relative of the suspected
bishop confirmed the development
to the journalist, but asked not to
be identified.
The petitions also supposed that
the cleric was harbouring arms both
in his house and church.
The police conducted the search of
the Ijaw bishop’s residence at
Bendel Estate in Effurun, Uvwie
council area of the state, and his
church building in Igbodu area of
Warri.
However, nothing incriminating was
found at both houses of the
clergyman.
The Avengers claimed series of
attacks on gas and oil facilities in
Niger Delta region.
The militants group has been calling
for a share of profits from oil
production with the local population.
They also demand regional self-
government.

Anti-corruption war: Lawyers tackle Buhari

– Lawyers have tackled President
Buhari for accusing the judiciary
of frustrating the speedy
determination of corruption cases
– NBA president said Buhari
should put some things in place
for the judiciary to perform its
role without inhibitions
– A lawyer, Amobi Nzelu, said
Buhari should be patient and
allow the judiciary do its work
Lawyers have called on President
Muhammadu Buhari to put in place
an enabling environment for judges
perform their duties optimally.
The lawyers were reacting to
Buhari’s comment that the judiciary
was frustrating the war against
corruption.
Speaking at the at the National
Judicial Institute, Abuja while
declaring open a workshop on the
“Roles of Judiciary in the fight
corruption”, Buhari said corruption
cases filed by government are not
progressing as speedily as they
should because the courts allow
some lawyers to frustrate the
reforms introduced by law.
Reacting to this, the Nigerian Bar
Association (NBA) said the
prosecution of criminal cases
follows due processes and laid
down procedures recognised by law
before arriving at conviction, Daily
Sun reports.

New clues on Fayose House that Worth's Billion

– The EFCC has revealed further
secrets regarding Governor
Fayose’s alleged involvement in
fraud
– Governor Fayose and his
associate Abiodun Agbele are said
to have fraudulently bought
houses worth N1.3billion
– The antigraft agency says the
recent finding is a major
breakthrough into the case
against the governor
– EFCC says some of the money
used for the frivolous purchases
were from the controversial
Dasuki Funds
Governor Ayodele Fayose might be
in some more messy situation with
regards to the allegation leveled
against him by the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC).
EFCC claims to have made a
breakthrough in the case against
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti
state.
The EFCC says it has made a
headway in the alleged corruption
case against the Ekiti state
governor and his associate, Abiodun
Agbele.
Agbele is currently in the EFCC
net, he is said to have received
N1.219bn from a former Minister of
State for Defence, Musiliu
Obanikoro.
The funds were received on behalf
of Fayose during the build-up to
the Ekiti governorship election in
June 2014.
Detectives of the EFCC allege that
Fayose used a large portion of the
N1.219bn along with some money
from the Ekiti state coffers to buy
houses in Lagos and Abuja which
have since been seized by the anti-
graft agency.
The Punch reports that Fayose
used Agbele to buy the houses in a
way that the source of the money
would look legitimate.
An undisclosed source reported
that the two houses in Abuja were
bought with bank loans on the
surface. However, the stolen money
was used in offsetting the bank
loans.
“From the Dasuki funds, they had
about N300m stashed in one
account. However, when they were
going to buy the N270m property
located on Yedseram Street, they did
not use the N300m from the stolen
funds. Rather, they obtained a loan
of N120m in the name of Spotless
Hotel from Zenith Bank to deposit for
the house.
“They then took about N150m out of
the Dasuki money to pay the balance
on the house and then used the
same Dasuki funds to offset the loan.
They went through all this stress to
cover their tracks and make it look
as if it was a bank loan they used in
buying the property.
“Why did they take a loan that would
be gathering interest when they had
more than enough money to buy the
house?”
The investigator said when it was
time to buy the four duplexes in
Lagos, Fayose and Agbele allegedly
overpaid the seller of the houses
and then told the seller to use the
balance which was N200m, to pay
for another house in Abuja.
“The worth of the four duplexes in
Lagos is N1.1bn which was sold by
Still Earth Nigeria Ltd. However,
Fayose and Agbele paid Still Earth
N1.3bn in cash and then told the
company to transfer the balance of
N200m to Skye Bank. It was that
N200m that was used in purchasing
the building at 44 Osun River
Crescent, Abuja. This was done so
that no one would be able to trace
the fund to them.”
Meanwhile, the anti-graft agency
has also traced about N60m to an
account belonging to Agbele.
The account titled, BYKD
Consultant Limited, which is
domiciled in a new generation bank,
received some funds from Ekiti
state local governments under the
heading, ‘Millennium Development
Goals’.

Opinion: Why Nigerians don't beilieve President Buhari

Opinion: Why Nigerians don't
beilieve President Buhari

Editor’s note: The times are biting
hard at the faith of the Nigerian
people, the nation tends to be
experiencing the worst of times in its
history, prioritization has become a
key skill to survive, where the people
have hardly seen any improvement in
the standard of their economy.
There are fears that the nation might
have no future, there are fears that
the change mantra was only a sham.
The people are not sure where the
country is headed, they wonder of
the president feels their plights.
Hope and faith are no more
Nigerians
Recent happenings and
commentaries have shown that
Nigerians need someone to believe
in; someone to call their leader
without sentiment; someone who
practically leads them through this
pain with sincere action and not
through mere intents or words.
Many Nigerians have stopped
believing in President Muhammadu
Buhari’s change mantra.
In times like these, Nigerians have
struggled to believe Mr President,
and below are 5 crucial reasons
why.
1. They don’t know if he is listening:
Feedback is a proof to show a man
listens. A listening leader is one the
followers call a concerned leader.
In the 2015 elections, we thronged
out in our millions to vote
President Buhari because we all
assumed a listener in him. Reality is
here and we don’t know if he has
created bottlenecks for himself
that filters what he hears and how
he responds because the only
feedback from his office has been
majorly in response to attacks
from aggrieved parties or the
opposition. The presidency should
be better than that.

Stop acting like the Grandfather of Corruption

– Governor Fayose has urged
President Buhari to stop acting
like the grandfather of corruption
in Nigeria
– Fayose urges Nigerians to
demand the release of the
authentic report of the Committee
on Audit of Defence Equipment
Procurement in the Nigerian
Armed Forces
– He says that the moment
documents of probe panels are
being adjusted to shield those
seen as the President’s men, then
Buhari himself is corrupt
Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state
has advised President Muhammadu
Buhari to stop acting like the
grandfather of corruption in
Nigeria, even as he asked Nigerians
to demand the release of the
authentic report of the Committee
on Audit of Defence Equipment
Procurement in the Nigerian Armed
Forces.
In a statement issued on Sunday,
July 17, by Lere Olayinka, the
governor’s special assistant on
public communications and new
media, Fayose said that although
fighting corruption is a good
idea, but noted that the moment
documents of probe panels are
being adjusted to shield those seen
as the President’s men, shows that
entire purpose of the corruption
fight has been defeated.

Fayose said it is clear that Buhari
supports corruption, following the
claim by the federal government
that the probe panel only looked
into procurement and contracts
awarded by the military between
2011 – 2015 because documents
regarding procurement from 2007
to 2010 were not available,
Premium Times reports.
Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state
has advised President Muhammadu
Buhari to stop acting like the
grandfather of corruption in Nigeria.

He said: “It is now obvious to the
entire world that anyone that is in
President Buhari’s good books can
never be adjudged as corrupt even if
such a person is caught looting the
entire money in Nigeria’s treasury.
“There are many petitions relating to
defence from 2007 that are been
discarded, the question is why?
There are several petitions against
APC leaders that are not being
looked into, the question is why?
“Fighting corruption and targeting
only opponents of the president is in
itself corruption.
“Buhari’s’ Minister of Interior, Major
General Abdul rahman Dambazau
(rtd) was Chief of Army Staff between
2008 and 2010 and the current Chief
Of Army Staff, Major General Tukur
Buratai served as Director of
Procurements, Defence
Headquarters, from 2012 till May
2015.

GOSSIP::He thinks wife's cheating on him. But the truth's more shocking

There are a lot of times when we jump into
conclusion without taking a moment to think
things through and verify facts. It is in these
most neglected moments that we fail the
most. Here’s a hilarious story that will show
you why we must always verify things first
before acting.
A little girl picks up the phone.

“Hello?”
“Hi, honey. This is Daddy. Is Mommy near the
phone?” Daddy asks.

“No, Daddy. She’s upstairs in the bedroom
with Uncle Paul.”
After a brief pause, Daddy says, “But, honey, you
haven’t got an Uncle Paul.”
“Oh, yes I do, and he’s upstairs in the room
with Mommy, right now.”

Dad takes a second to process this, then speaks. “Uh,
OK, then this is what I want you to do. Put the
phone down on the table, run upstairs, knock
on the bedroom door and shout to Mommy
that Daddy’s car just pulled into the driveway.”
A few minutes later the little girl comes back to the
phone. “I did it, Daddy!”

“And what happened, honey?” he asked.
“Well, Mommy got all scared, jumped out of
bed with no clothes on and ran around
screaming. Then she tripped over the rug, hit
her head on the dresser and now she isn’t
moving at all!”
“Oh my God! What about your Uncle Paul?”
“He jumped out of the bed with no clothes on,
too. He was all scared and he jumped out of
the back window and into the swimming pool.
But I guess he didn’t know that you took out
the water last week to clean it. He hit the
bottom of the pool and I think he’s dead.”
A long, silent pause.
Then Daddy says, “Swimming pool? … Is this
486-5731?”
Did the twist shock you? Yes it’s hilarious, but it’s
also quite alarming. So be sure to verify the phone
number before asking anything or thinking your wife is
cheating on you!

GOSSIP::::::::Man pretended to have no legs in order to beg

A beggar was caught on the street of China

was really handicapped.
When checked, the man had tucked his legs into the
back of his boxer shorts, to give the appearance that
he had no legs. He then put on a pair of trousers to
cover his hidden limbs and spend the day sitting on a
skateboard.

When Nigeria screamed Ghana must go

When Nigeria screamed Ghana
must go!

In this retro series, we will examines the
repatriation of up to one million illegal
immigrants by Nigeria back to Ghana.
The year was 1983 and Nigeria had just
ordered the massive return of illegal
migrants from the country back to Ghana.
The move seemed incredible as Nigeria
and Ghana were supposed to be
considered best neighbours and their
relationship dates back to the pre-
colonial period.
At that time, more than a million
Ghanaians were working (il) legally in
Nigeria as the country had enjoyed oil
boom. However there were complaints
that the Ghanaians had taken over the
labour work force in the country and
Nigerians were forced to compete with
them in the labour market. The collapse
of the oil boom forced the country into
economic hardship. Someone had to be
blamed and the foreigners were the
scapegoat.

When the repatriation was announced, it
was celebrated with glee in Nigeria but
for their Ghanaian counterparts, it was a
journey they would not forget. They were
given till May 10 of that year to leave the
country of face serious consequence.
An official statement from Nigeria read:
“If they don’t leave they should be arrested
and tried and sent back to their homes. Illegal
immigrants, in fact, under normal
circumstances, should not be given any notice
whatsoever.”
It was suspected that the repatriation
was a retaliatory move from Nigeria as
Ghana carried out a similar move during
President Kofi Abrefa Busia
administration in the early 1970’s and
foreigners, most of them from Nigeria,
were deported.
For Ghanaians, the journey from Nigeria
back to their country was a tiring one.
Trucks were loaded with humans and
cargos and soldiers supervised the
expulsion of the Ghanaians. Many of
them were forced to leave behind their
assets and belongings as they could not
secure official documents to stay.
The Ghanaian radio station stations were
livid: ”Nigeria should be ashamed of itself.
The action of Nigeria is contrary to the charter
of the Organization of African Unity.”

Jokes :--10 things you will know from using public toilets in Nigeria

10 things you will know from
using public toilets in Nigeria

We are sure you must have had one or
two nasty experiences where you
suddenly felt the need to use the toilet
while outside the comfort of your
house or lush bathroom. Some people
are lucky enough to be in
a comfortable and neat environment
when this happens.
Bottom line is, you are human and this could happen
to anyone. The worst case scenario would be for you
to feel the need to use the toilet while traveling
in a bus. Some Nigerians who know there is no big
deal about being pressed may not be bothered by it;
but when you are running stool while traveling, you
would definitely know it is no joke.
Firstly, the thought of having to stop the driver
and explain to everyone in the bus is unsettling;
many people debate about this in their minds for as
long as possible while trying to suppress the shitty
feeling. And when it finally happens and you
discover you probably have to do it again, it could
change your system and mess your mood. In a
situation like that, you could become sick from
worrying and could have other issues along the line.
Find below some of the other things you will
understand from having to use a public toilet:
1. The fear
While you are looking for the nearest place to ease
yourself and empty your bowel, there is this fear
of not having to mess up yourself. As a Nigerian,
you would be thinking about the shit not dropping in
your pant; if it does, you have just created another
unsettling situation. You would have to deal with
the smell and having yourself cleaned up from the
mess.
2. Looking for a place to do it
While you are nursing the fear of not soiling
yourself up, you would probably be looking for a
place to do it. Having to ask everyone around you
for the nearest public toilet is embarrassing to most
people. If it is a place you are not familiar with,
you have a lot of work to do as this would
destabilize you the more.
3. When a putrid smell hits your nose
from the entrance
Finally, you were shown a public toilet and you
made your way towards it. However, you had to stop
the moment you got to the entrance and you were
hit with the strong putrid smell of urine.
At this point you are confused, you have a tough
decision to make; whether to manage the toilet
while the strong smell of urine stings your nose or
to walk away from there and find another toilet.
What were you expecting by the way, that the
public toilet would be as neat as your own toilet?

women
4. When you cannot use the toilet
without paying N20
Your decision to leave the other toilet probably paid
off as you were able to find another public toilet
that could be managed.
The only problem with the new public toilet is that
there is a mean porter at the entrance who insists on
you paying N20 or N50. The sad part is you may
not be with your purse and if you do, the change
may not be available for you to give the porter.
5. When you finally made it to the
toilet
After being able to get through the porter, you got
to the toilet and discovered it is not as neat as you
thought. But of course, it is still better than the
first one you saw.
The toilet could have permanent stains that toilet
cleaner cannot remove at once. The buzzing flies
around too could land on your body and piss you off
the more. Since you are there already, you are
there.

RELATIONSHIP :--10 basic types of boyfriends you would see in Nigeria

10 basic types of boyfriends
you would see in Nigeria

Nigeria is no doubt an interesting
country with lots of characters; there
is virtually nothing we have not seen in
this country. And when it comes to
relationships, you are bound to hear
tales that would wow you.
In order to ascertain how fruitful your relationship
would be, the type of people you roll with would
either have a long or short term effect on you.
There are certain traits women should watch out for
when they want to venture into a new relationship.
The qualities possessed by the men would give
women a glint of the kind of experience they are
bound to have with them.
In this piece, we would be looking at the different
types of boyfriends you could get in Nigeria and
the things you are likely to face while in a
relationship with them. Perhaps, this would serve as
a guide and help ladies choose wisely.
Find below some of the different types of
boyfriend you would find in Nigeria:
1. The unserious boyfriend
This boyfriend is never serious, he jokes around most
of the time and enjoys teasing you. While this may
be a good thing as the relationship is bound to be
fun, it could also be quite an annoying thing to
have him take you for granted and crack jokes with
important matters that are tugging at the strings of
your heart.
If your period ever gets missing while dating this
joker boyfriend, he would tell you to go look for it
wherever you misplaced it.
2. The wealthy boyfriend
He is all over himself and cannot do without
mentioning how vast his wealth is. You may have a
great time moving with the wealthy boyfriend as
both of you would paint the town with colors.
The only restriction attached to having a wealthy
boyfriend is that he knows other girls can be bought
and you will not be at liberty to act anyhow while
dating him because there are so many options when
it comes to replacing you.
3. The social boyfriend
Having a social boyfriend means you are not the
only one dating him. He is like a community
boyfriend with uses that extend to every tom, dick
and harry.
He is quick to lend support to a damsel in distress;
he could be useful to everyone in the community
except you. When you complain about him, everyone
thinks you are being too demanding as he is perfect
for you already.
4. The fine but broke boyfriend
A boyfriend like this could be very handsome and
would easily attract ladies in the society. Men like
these love to look good and would invest more in
themselves than in you.
After all, it is their looks that they sell; they have
their hair cut twice in a week but cannot afford to
give you money to make your hair. They would stalk
you all day and give people the impression they
worship you while you do not value them.

House of Reps consider
reduced age of candidacy in
Nigeria

– The House of Representatives is
considering to reduce the age of
candidacy to contest for the positions
of president, governor and senate
– “The bill is a demonstration of the
growing desire and demand of youths
to participate in the democratic
process”
The bill proposing to lower the eligible age for
presidential candidates and those interested to run
for public offices in Nigeria passed second reading
in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
If passed into a law it will lower age of candidacy
requirements for the office of the president from
40 to 30 years, and will also allow the 30-year-
olds to run for the office of a governor and for
election to the Senate.
Besides, it will reduce the age qualifications to
contest for the House of Representatives and State
Houses of Assembly to 25 years. The sponsor of the
bill is Tony Chinedu Nwulu who represents Oshodi-
Isolo 11 Federal Constituency of Lagos state, on
platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The lawmaker believes that the intiative will
attract more youths in politics and governance, he
stressed that electing young candidates into public
offices is an important aspect of democratic
practices.
Explaining his position he gave an example of other
countries where age of candidacy requirements were
reduced. He said: “Countries like the United
Kingdom parliament decided in 2006 to
lower their age of candidacy from 21 to
18, which had existed since the
Parliamentary Elections Act 1695. An age
candidacy of 25 would encourage greater
youth participation in politics.”
Mr Nwulu is convinced that the bill is a
demonstration of the growing desire and demand of
youths to participate in the country governance. He
added: “This desire itself could be viewed
as a sufficient warrant for young people
to participate, demonstrate a willingness
to engage and fulfill the burdens of
office.”

Boko Haram sect is trapped in the

– The troops are waiting for the sect to

The Nigerian army has said that the deadly Boko
Haram sect is currently locked in Sambisa forest,
the notorious enclave of the insurgents.
The terrorists reportedly cannot come out to launch
attack on the rest of the nation.
The commander of the counter-insurgency operation
in the north-east (Operation Lafiya Dole), Maj. Gen.
Lucky Irabor said this while addressing the
conference on the successes in the war against the
Boko Haram fighters.
He said the forest is completely surrounded by the
Nigerian soldiers and there is no escape for any
insurgents still holed up there.
The commander added that it has become
impossible for the Boko Haram members still holed
up in the Sambisa forest to get out or for them to
have access to civilization to get any supply.
Irabor said the soldiers are only waiting for the
insurgents to surrender as life has become
unbearable for them.
He said if the terrorists do not come out soon
enough, the army would move further into the
forest to level it.
Meanwhile, he gave assurance that there is no
escape for any insurgent still trapped within the
forest as the soldiers have taken positions at all
access routes leading into and out of the forest.
Since President Muhammadu Buhari was inaugurated
on May 29, 2015, the Nigerian army achieved
huge success in the Boko Haram war.

MAN CITY OPEN AUBAMEYANG
TALKS AS UNITED & MADRID
FALL BEHIND IN RACE FOR €75M
STRIKER

By Sam Lee
Having already signed Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia
Dortmund, the Citizens have now begun discussions
with the Bundesliga outfit regarding a move for the
Gabon international
Manchester City are in talks to sign Pierre-Emerick
Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, Goal
understands.
City have stolen a march on rivals Manchester
United, as well as Real Madrid, in the race for the
sought-after striker during talks in recent days.
Dortmund, emboldened by the level of interest from
Europe's biggest clubs, are holding out for a fee of
€75 million, which at around £58.5 milllion would
come close to matching the £54m plus £5m in add-
ons that City paid Wolfsburg for Kevin De Bruyne last
summer.
The Etihad Stadium hierarchy have committed to a
significant overhaul of the playing squad ahead of
Pep Guardiola's official arrival at the start of July,
and have identified Aubameyang, who scored 39
goals in all competitions last season, as a key target
and are willing to get a deal over the line.
Although City had coveted Dortmund's Ilkay
Gundogan for some time, and a deal was virtually in
place long before it was confirmed last week, they
have only recently made their move for Aubameyang.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool had also enquired
about Aubameyang's availability in the first half of
2016, while United were willing to match any offer
for the Gabon international, who recently pulled out
of international duty to resolve his future.
Aubameyang himself has talked up a move to Spain,
and specifically Real Madrid, but he is also open to
playing in the Premier League.
It is thought the striker's head has been turned by
the prospect of working with Guardiola and becoming
part of a new project at the Etihad Stadium.
City's transfer plans are evolving rapidly. Gundogan
became the first signing of the Guardiola era at the
beginning of June, and there is still interest in
long-term centre-back targets John Stones and
Aymeric Laporte, who could cost more than £70m
combined.
Interest in Paul Pogba and Toni Kroos has been
dropped over the past several weeks, while a move
for Jack Wilshere is also thought to be unlikely.
But with City also still in the hunt for speedy
Schalke winger Leroy Sane, among a number of other
targets, the club are ready to lay down a marker in
the summer transfer window.
That would provide a huge confidence boost ahead
of the official unveiling of Guardiola, details of
which the club revealed on Tuesday.
The doors of the City Football Academy training
complex will be thrown open to supporters across the
weekend of July 2 and 3, with the new badge
design and home kit due to be formally revealed on
the Saturday.
Tickets for the second day of the event, when
Guardiola will take to the stage to directly address
supporters, sold out within a matter of hours

LOS ANGELES — Hirving Lozano says there’s nothing

An official from Pachuca, the club the 20-year-old
helped to the Liga MX Clausura title in May before
joining up with the national team for the Copa
America Centenario, confirmed that Manchester United
has made an approach for the winger's services . But
as information swirls, the player said his
attention hasn’t been drawn away from the national
team.
“I think I’m taking it calmly. Nobody’s said anything
to me. I don’t know anything about that,” Lozano
said at a news conference Tuesday. “I think first, I’m
going to focus here on the national team, finish this
tournament well and, well, obviously after that see
what happens. But right now, they haven’t mentioned
anything to me.”

tournament, talk to my club and see what
possibilities there are,” he said.
Lozano came into Mexico’s first match of the Copa

Riyad Mahrez is ready to quit Leicester City but the

The PFA Player of the Year is wanted by Europe's

Mahrez signed a contract extension with Leicester in

MONTOYA READY TO LEAVE
BARCELONA DESPITE ALVES EXIT

By Ignasi Oliva
The Real Betis loanee, along with Cristian Tello and
Alex Song, will restart his career with a new club,
while Denis Suarez's return from Villarreal is not yet
a done deal
EXCLUSIVE
Martin Montoya is not considering a return to
Barcelona for the coming season despite the exit of
Dani Alves opening up the right-back position.
The academy graduate spent the entire 2015-16
campaign away from Camp Nou, with a loan move to
Inter followed by another temporary switch at Betis.
And while Alves' soon-to-be-completed move to
Juventus could aid Montoya's chances of playing
first-team football, Goal understands that he is
looking for another club.
The 25-year-old's contract at Barcelona still has
two years to run but in the five seasons since he
broke into the senior squad he has made just 67
appearances. "He is only interested in playing," a
source close to Montoya confided.
Barca received several offers for Montoya last
summer before agreeing a deal with Inter and similar
interest is expected in the coming transfer window.
Betis are keen to add him to their squad on a
permanent basis but his high salary demands could
price them out. "We are not prepared to match
Montoya's wages at Barcelona, which means an
agreement is far off right now," sporting director
Miguel Torrecillo recently revealed.
Montoya is not the only loan star likely to leave
Barcelona permanently. Cristian Tello is out of
contract on June 30 and could join Fiorentina after
impressing on loan, while Alex Song is surplus to
requirements.
Alen Halilovic is set to sign for Valencia pending the
agreement of personal terms but Barca will have the
option to re-sign the Croatian starlet for a set fee
in the future.
The expected return of Denis Suarez, who joined
Villarreal from Barca with a similar buy-back clause,
now appears less certain as salary negotiations
continue to stall.
Barca have informed the Yellow Submarine they
intend to exercise the €3 million option in Suarez's
contract but RAC1 report that the offer is only
valid between July 1 and 15.
If Suarez receives a better offer before that date
he is within his rights to accept it and he will
consider his options before committing his future to
Camp Nou.

– Deeper Life Bible Church head
Pastor, William Kumuyi, has said
Nigerians should not panic because of
the current socio-economic and
security challenges
– Pastor Kumuyi said that the country

the ground
Pastor Kumuyi
The General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible
Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, has said Nigerians
should not panic because of the current socio-
economic and security challenges.
The popular cleric said the nation would soon
overcome them and become better.
The cleric urged the Federal Government to
dialogue with Niger Delta stakeholders to end
renewed militancy in the region.
He said all hands must be on the deck to work for
Nigeria’s progress and fight against its division.
The preacher noted that the need for the nation’s
restructuring should not lead to its division.
Patror Kumuyi said : “We should not worry
ourselves too much on the issue. We
should rather think of how we can move
the country forward because too much
talk about restructuring does not mean
Nigeria will break up.
“The solution is that we should begin to
dialogue. Stakeholders should reason
together and see the way forward, instead
of accusing one another. What we are
interested in is how to solve the problem.
What are the expectations of both sides
so that we can move forward?”
He said comments by Nigerians on the economic
situation were normal, adding that they were
indications that the country deserved better than
the realities on the ground.
“The reason people are commenting is
because Nigeria deserves to be better.
The economy has been low, but we are
getting out of it. With prayers, I know we
will get better,” Pastor Kumuyi said.

Meanwhile, the federal government has ordered
immediate withdrawal of military from the Niger
Delta communities. This was arrived at a meeting
summoned on the instruction of President
Muhammadu Buhari, the federal government and
Niger Delta states .

out of 58 federal tertiary institutions or
centres were exempted from the initial
centre based strike for the commitment of
the chief medical director of the hospitals
to implement the federal government’s
directives.
“If by midnight on Sunday, June 19, our
demands are not met, all the members of
the association, including those
exempted, would join the indefinite
nationwide strike.”
According to The Cable, Dr Askira said the
association sees it as very important to take “the
painful decision” due to the failure of the
federal government to grant their request.
He added: “Due to the failure of the
government to address the demands of
NARD, it has declared a total and
indefinite strike.
“NARD has to take this painful decision in
order to highlight the plight of our
hardworking members who have had to
endure a long period of deprivation and
disenfranchisement.”

It was a shameful thing to know, regarding refusal
to pay workers’ salary by the government, as a
teacher who works at Ekiti Baptist High School,
stole a pot of amala from her neighbour’s kitchen
due to unpaid salary.

Top 5 reasons Stephen Keshi
will never be forgotten

The sudden demise of former Super
Eagles captain and coach Stephen
Keshi has thrown the football world
into a state of shock.
The 54-year-old passed away in the wee hours of
today June 8, 2016, according to his relatives and
close associates.
“He was not ill at all, never showed any
signs of illness, but we suspect he never
got over the death of his wife,” one of his
close friends said.
Although Nigerians have continued to react to the
loss, below are five things the ‘Big Boss’ will be
remembered for.
1. Leading Nigeria to win AFCON 2013
Stephen Keshi led the Super Eagles to win the
2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa .
Nigerian appeared at the 29th edition of the
tournament as minnows.
The team began the competition on a rather poor
note with 1 – 1 draws against Burkina Faso and
Zambia respectively, in their opening two games at
the tournament. Nigeria defeated Ethiopia 2 – 0 in
their final group game to proceed to the quarter
final stage against the star-studded Elephants of
Cote d’Ivoire.

Super Eagles players and ex-internationals
An Emmanuel Emenike freekick with a Sunday Mba
strike gave the Keshi-led team a 2 – 1 win over
the Ivorians.
Nigeria defeated Mali in the semis and overcame
Burkina Faso in the final to win the tournament for
a third time.
This feat confirmed Keshi as the second person to
win the AFCON tournament as a player and coach,
having also won it in 1994 as a player. The only
person to achieve similar feat was Egyptian
Mahmoud el-Gohary, who is also of blessed
memory.
2. Stephen Keshi assisted many
African players to move to Europe
Keshi played alongside Austin Eguavoen in California
as the backbone of the defence for the short-lived
Sacramento Scorpions. Chidi Nwanu, Odertey
Lamptey, Okechukwu Ajah, Philip Osondu all played
in Belgium with the influence of the ‘Big Boss’.
The moment Sunday Mba scored the goal that
handed Nigeria the AFCON 2013 trophy
Keshi also discovered many great players
including Justice Christopher, Dele Ayenugba and
Sunday Mba.
3. The issues that led to his sack as
the Super Eagles coach
It would be recalled that in 2002 Keshi was
assistant to Shuaibu Amodu when Nigeria qualified
for the World Cup, but the pair were sacked and
replaced by Adegboye Onigbinde before the
showpiece in South Korea and Japan.
The ex-international was re-appointed in 2011 and
won the AFCON in 2013. He led the team reach the
second round of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
