Opinion: Obama, Buhari, and David Mark are preventing the freedom of Biafrans

Opinion: Obama, Buhari, and David Mark are
preventing the freedom of Biafrans

Editor’s note: The U.S. government recently
announced that it is seeking to approve a sale
of 12 A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft
to Nigeria to help its fight against the Boko
Haram sect. David Mark of Israel Rising shares
his views on how the strengthening of
relations between America and Nigeria will
help Muhammadu Buhari to stop Biafra
independence.
Either the Obama administration is ignorant
of Buhari’s human rights abuses against the
Igbo in Biafra or they are complicit. Buhari
has often used Boko Haram as a foil to
generate for arms and sympathy from the
West.
The United States has begun to strengthen
ties with Buhari ever since he attained
power in Africa’s most populous country.
The previous President Goodluck Jonathan
was a friend of Israel and yet spurned the
Obama administration. With Buhari now as
President the tables have turn. Nigeria is
now ruled by a former military leader and an
avowed Islamist.
Given Obama’s engagement and pasting over
of Buhari’s own abuses, little doubt remains
that Obama knows of and believes Buhari’s
Islamist background is a strength.
Obama has also strengthened US Special
Forces throughout Africa, placing Nigeria as
a priority. Yet, given reports that Buhari has
used weapons given to him to fight Boko
Haram on the Igbo in South East Nigeria as
well as willfully encouraging Fulani
Tribesman to butcher unarmed Igbos, one
wonders why improving ties between the US
government and Buhari are something to be
cheered from the perspective of the USA.
Buhari has allowed the Fulani herdsman to
run wild and murder the Igbo. Independence
movements have grown, and a near
unanimous belief that Buhari is complicit
pervades Biafra.
At the end of the day, the Obama foreign
policy has actively sought out to strengthen
Islamic regimes at the expense of moderate
actors, whether they have been secular
Islamic states, Sub-Saharan Christians, or
Israel.
By selling military armaments to Buhari, the
Obama administration has pitted itself
against Israel’s growing presence in the
region and has hampered Israel’s ability to
militarily support an independent Biafra.

When she was young she said a cruel thing to her mother. Years later, though

When she was young she said
a cruel thing to her mother.
Years later, though…

Night after night, she came to tuck me in,
even after my childhood years. Following her
longstanding custom, she’d lean down and
push my long hair out of the way, then kiss
my forehead.
I don’t remember when it first started
annoying me – her hands pushing my hair
that way. But it did annoy me for they felt
work-worn and rough against my young skin.
Finally, one night, I lashed out at her: “Don’t
do that anymore – your hands are too rough!”
She didn’t say a thing in reply. But never
again did my mother close out my day with
that familiar expression of her love. Lying
awake long afterward, my words haunted
me. But pride stifled my conscience, and I
didn’t tell her I was sorry.
Time after time, with the passing years, my
thoughts returned to that night. By then I
missed my mother’s hands, missed her
goodnight kiss upon my forehead.
Sometimes the incident seemed very close,
sometimes far away. But always it lurked,
hauntingly, in the back of my mind.
Well, the years have passed, and I’m not a
little girl anymore. Mom is in her mid-
seventies, and those hands I once thought to
be so rough are still doing things for me and
my family. She’s been our doctor, reaching
into a medicine cabinet for the remedy to
calm a young girl’s stomach or soothe a
boy’s scraped knee. She cooks the best fried
chicken in the world, gets stains out of blue
jeans like I never could, and still insists on
dishing out cream at any hour of the day or
night.
Through the years, my mother’s hands have
put in countless hours of toil, and most of
hers were before perma-pressed fabrics and
automatic washers!

Now, my own children are grown and gone.
Mom no longer has Dad, and on special
occasions, I find myself going next door to
spend the night with her. So it was late one
Thanksgiving Eve, as I drifted into sleep in
the bedroom of my youth, a familiar hand
hesitantly stole across my face to brush the
hair from my forehead. Then a kiss, ever so
gently, touched my brow.
In my memory, for the thousandth time, I
recalled the night my surly young voice
complained: “Don’t do that anymore – your
hands are too rough!”
I reacted involuntarily. Catching Mom’s hand
in mine, I blurted out how sorry I was for
that night. I thought she’d remember, as I
did. But Mom didn’t know what I was talking
about. She had forgotten – and forgiven –
long ago.
That night, I fell asleep with a new
appreciation for my gentle mother and her
caring hands. And the guilt I had carried
around for so long was nowhere to be found.

still mourning the inclusive case between
him and the record label
– Bymo said the case is inconclusive and
thus want it resurrected
– The Ara Mbe singer is crying sabotage
and wants justice
Singer Brymo Olawale
Alternative singer Brymo has revealed why
he lost the case against his former label
Chocolate City in court.
The Ara Mbe singer expressed his loss
during an interview on Beat FM on Monday,
May 9 which also doubles as his 30th
birthday. He said:
“Even though it happened a long time ago and
I am constantly trying to forget it. I feel like
somebody needs to resurrect the case in
court. We had the opportunity to iron it out in
court but they fried it up. I don’t know what
they did but they definitely spoke to the judge
and spoke to the lawyers and scrapped the
case, they are lawyers; they can do it.”
Despite the fact that the case has been
scraped by the court, Brymo said the case is
inconclusive. “I don’t know what they are
doing right now, the last time I was in court
was in May 2015 and they came out to tell
everyone that Brymo won the case; the judge
never even passed the sentence. The judge
just came that day and said, “I can’t do this,
they don’t trust me so I’m going to drop the
case” and so he dropped it.”

Full-scale war imminent in
Nigeria - APC chief

Editor’s note: President Muhammadu Buhari
declared the war on militant group the Niger
Delta Avengers. On its own part the group
listed some conditions that should be met by
the government before peace can be returned
in the Niger Delta.
Joe Igbokwe, chairman of the Lagos Wharf
Landing Fee Collecting Authority and publicity
secretary of the All Progressives Congress
(APC) predicts bloody war in Niger Delta and
gives reason why the war is imminent.
Niger Delta militants remain a serious threat
in the blighted region
Unless senior citizens of the Niger Delta and
patriots rise now to talk sense into the
empty heads of the people that call
themselves the Avengers and the Concerned
Militant Leaders, a full-scale war is imminent
in the Niger Delta, and it is going to be
bloody and destructive.
The struggle for the liberation of the Niger
Delta
I have been an active advocate and
supporter of people in the Niger Delta to get
a fair share of the oil resources in Nigeria
found 90% in their soil. In 1999 I wrote in my
book, Heroes of Democracy that: “I cannot
pretend that I do not know the level of
atrocities and man’s inhumanity to man that
has been going on in the oil-rich region of
the Niger Delta neither have I closed my
eyes to the tragic stories of the bloodbath in
the region.”
The struggle for the liberation of the Niger
Delta, which has suffered 42years of criminal
neglect did not start yesterday. On February
23, 1966, Major Isaac Idaka Boro with some
50 men of the Niger Delta Volunteers
Service (NDVS) declared an Ijaw secession
from Nigeria. Nigeria instead of listening to
their grievances declared war on Isaac Boro
and his men and eventually crushed the
rebellion.
