Nigeria must follow up SCOTU ruling on Iran - Dr Kolawole

Nigeria must follow up SCOTU
ruling on Iran

By- Dr Kolawole

Editor’s note: A lecturer at the Nasarawa State
University, Dr Anthony Kolawole, warns
Nigerian authorities to be wary of its relations
with Iran and keep tabs of their activities in
Nigeria especially as it relates to the Shittes in
Nigeria. Kolawole’s warning is coming on the
heels of the ruling by the Supreme Court of
the United States that Iran is a sponsor of
terrorism, radicalization, extremism and other
traits that undermine the safety of other
nations.
President Muhammadu Buhari and his
Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani
The Supreme Court of the United States
(SCOTU) ruling this week confirmed what
some of us have always known and insisted
on. Iran is a sponsor of terrorism,
radicalization, extremism and other traits
that undermine the safety of other nations.
The US Supreme Court ruled that Iran must
lose nearly $2 billion in frozen assets to
survivors and relatives of those killed in the
1983 US Marine barracks bombing in Beirut,
the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing that killed
19 Americans in Saudi Arabia, and other
attacks linked to the Islamic Republic of

It took 33 years in the case of the first
bombing for victims and relatives of the
dead to get closure. That is a luxury Nigeria
cannot afford. The US is well established.
Iran could not attack on its home soil so its
proxies hit offshore targets. The approach is
different in Nigeria. Iranian proxies live right
among us. Their attack, if allowed to
happen, would be catastrophic. Iran changed
tactics to start attacking minds of youths in
Nigeria with extremism and radicalization.
Hundreds of thousands of youths are already
so poisoned.
Iran implemented the poisoning in Nigeria
through the Islamic Movement in Nigeria
(IMN). The group already attacked the
Nigerian Army. The Zaria attempt on the life
of Chief of Army Staff could be a flag
operation to test the waters. They did not
expect the firm response from the Army.
The resulting disarray forced their master
Iran, to directly intervene through its envoy
in Nigeria, Ambassador Saeed Kozechi.
A notable professor, Abdullahi Mahdi already
issued dire warning. IMN is a threat to
Nigeria’s safety and sovereignty. It operates
a parallel government with cells across
Nigeria. Its members do not believe in
Nigeria’s statehood. They have their own
parallel ministries and officials. They
adopted insidious strategy of gradually
infiltrating the system. They now hold key
positions that mean they can tele-guide
government policies.

Their predisposition to violence is well
known. It tallies with the Iranian model. It is
the means they had applied to subjugate
residents of Zaria for over four decades.
They unleashed the intellectual equivalent of
this violence on the media landscape after
the Zaria incident. They blackmail objective
analysts of the incidents under the guise of
pursuing human rights. It is clear even IMN
media wars are directed from abroad
through Islamic Human Rights Commission
(IHRC). It forwards propaganda materials
that are unleashed on the nation to make
adherents of other faiths look bad.
Nigeria’s options are glaring: it could play
political correctness and allow IMN to gain
grounds for Iran on its soils; it could contain
the spread of the Iranian contamination. The
first option may appear easier and popular
but will compromise future peace, destroy
territorial integrity and evaporate the
nation’s sovereignty. Option two looks ugly
but guarantees the future of Nigeria as a
country.
Option two will have huge costs. IMN acting
for Iran will scale up confrontation with the
state. Other Iranian proxies will bomb
Nigeria’s offshore assets. But it is still not a
bad option.
Implementation must be immediate. Nigeria
must follow the US example by freezing
Iranian assets that are linked to extremism
on our soil. It must scrutinize funding and
foreign donations to sectarian and religious
groups. Questionable transactions must be
stopped and investigated. Nigerian youths
must be stopped from schooling in Iran; they
always come back radicalized and ready to
wreck havoc.
Further steps are needed. Nigeria must get
an equivalent of the US Supreme Court
ruling. Iranian assets must be frozen to
compensate families that are victims of IMN
extremism. Iran directs IMN and should bear
the final responsibility for its actions. Frozen

Call your Herdsmen to Order, people will be forced to retaliate, Fani- Kayode, Aniete Okon to Northern Govs

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA- FORMER Spokesperson to the ex- President Goodluck Jonathan’s Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani- Kayode has asked the Northern governors and other leaders from there zone to call the suspected Fulani Herdsmen who have been terrorizing persons from other parts of the country to order. Fani- Kayode who noted that the warning has become imperative, said that the action of Fulani Herdsmen could lead to retaliation, adding that enough is enough. Also speaking in the same vein, Pioneer National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Aniete Okon who described the action of the Fulani herdsmen as barbaric and totally unacceptable, urged the governors to call the herdsmen to order as Nigeria cannot afford to witness yet another civil war. Both Kayode and Okon in Separate text messages to Vanguard were reacting to the position by Northern governors that Fulanis were not culpable in the spate of killings in Agatu, Enugu, others. Fani – Kayode said, “This madness and endless attempt to rationalise and justify it has to stop. It is in the interest of the northern and Fulani leaders to call their herdsmen and militants to order. Nigeria is already on the road to Kigali. If they don’t stop the slaughter of southerners, the raping of southern women and the stealing and pillaging of southern lands by their kinsmen our people will be forced to retaliate and this country will burn and break.

Louis van Gaa l is adamant he will still
be Manchester United manager next season,
no matter what happens at the end of the
season.
The Red Devils remain in contention for a
top-four finish and are in the FA Cup final but
speculation over the Dutchman’s future at
the club persists.
Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked with
replacing Van Gaal at Old Trafford but the
64-year-old is relaxed about his future and
says he always felt it would take time to
bring success to the club.
"I knew it would be like this. That’s why they
hired me and we spoke about it," he told
reporters.
"We always knew that the process would
take three years. I wanted to sign only for
two years.
"The club wanted me to sign for three years,
not me. I signed for three years – so next
year you will see me again.
"Every week for six months I have been
sacked – and yet I am still here. But this has
happened to me at every club I have been at.
"I am doing the same job at United that I was
hired to do at every club.
"People should assess the squad that I took
over and make a comparison to the players
we have now in terms of age.

The manager was interviewed after guiding
Liverpool to a 3-0 win over Manchester City
but his reaction to the German giants' loss to
former club Mainz attracted the most
attention
Jurgen Klopp believes he will never be
offered the Bayern Munich job because he
laughed when they lost to Mainz earlier this
season.
The German is considered one of the best
managers in the game after guiding Borussia
Dortmund to back-to-back Bundesliga title
wins and a Champions League final between
2010 and 2013.
Klopp was long touted as a replacement for
Guardiola before joining Liverpool in October
2015 and the 48-year-old now feels his
reaction to a 2-1 loss in March has forever
ruled him out of a future appointment.

"I slammed the Bayern door myself," Klopp
told 11Freunde .
"It was the joy for Mainz's success. But the
video looks like pure malicious joy. That is
not reparable."
Klopp represented Mainz for the majority of
his playing career before being appointed
manager upon his retirement.

"I will not do it like the managerial staff, who spoke about transfer rumours before an important game like the semi-finals of the Champions league [against Atletico Madrid]. Arsenal must play much better after the EPL

Danny Welbeck came off the bench to

Gunners back to third, however undeserved
as Norwich should have at least got at a
draw for a truly accomplished performance –
one would not have guessed they are a team
fighting for their EPL survival.
Welbeck justified his manager’s decision by
scoring just after three minutes of coming
on with a neat half-volley from 12 yards.
And the French forward said: “We are very
pleased with the three points because it was
not a fantastic game from the team. The thing
is, we never give up and we trust in our game
until the end.We could have scored more, and
we played a team who are fighting to not go
down. We knew it was going to be a tough
game and we expected that. We are very
pleased to win this game because it was not
easy but we have to do much better.”
