and their production activities
– Governor Tambuwal said no meaningful

Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad
Aliyu, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and
Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad, at a one day
stakeholders forum on the development of
agriculture held in Sokoto…Tuesday19-04-16
In order to generate adequate data and take
proper inventory of farmers and their
production activities, Sokoto government will
this weekend begin the enumeration of
farmers, farmlands and type of crops
cultivated across the state.
Stating this at a one day stakeholders forum
on the development of agriculture in Sokoto
State, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal
said generating the data is a first step
towards implementation of his new agric
revolution policy in the state.
He said no meaningful development can take
place without data.
“Today we lack data to identify our farmers
across the state. If government, at the
moment, sourced the required funds and
implements for farmers, there is no any data
to tell who is producing what and where ad at
what capacity.
“We will do the survey in order to know our
farmers, their locations, what they produce
and at what capacity. The information to be
generated will guide farmers government as to
what support and assistance individual farmer
will need to be productive,” the governor
added.
Tambuwal said after studying all economic
variables, Sokoto government decided that
the only to facilitate economic growth and
development is by prioritizing agriculture, a
decision that led to the establishment of the
state Technical committee for the
development of agriculture.

the people.
Among the measures implemented include
the development of the tomato value chain
by signing an agreement with Erisco Foods
to establish a tomato processing factory and

PDP prepares replacement for Saraki

PDP prepares replacement for
Saraki
– The opposition party has already chosen a
politician to replace Saraki if he resigns
– The Unity Forum promised to work with
PDP’s candidate for Senate president post
Bukola Saraki in court today
There are indications that the next Senate
president may be chosen by the opposition
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Daily Sun reports that some members of the
opposition party are thinking of Ike
Ekweremadu as a likely replacement if there
is vacancy in the Senate.
Members of both camps disclosed that they
are considering Ekweremadu as a probable
substitution for Saraki based on his
experience and the fact that he has been
Senate president’s deputy since last June.
A senator from the South-East said that
members of Like Minds group, who are
preponderantly PDP, were already mooting
the idea of Ekweremadu succeeding Saraki.
The source said: “We hold meetings everyday
and we strategise on the way forward. But
many of us were shocked when we read
yesterday (Saturday) that the APC was willing
to concede the Senate presidency seat to us
(PDP). We did not expect it to end like this.
“We have always stood by Saraki and we will
stand by him till the end. But we also need to
start putting the interest of our party (PDP)
first. We have started talking to ourselves and
we have started mounting pressure on
Ekweremadu to gear up and be prepared to
succeed Saraki. He has been the Deputy
Senate President for three times now. PDP will
take over and Ekweremadu may just be the
man.”
In a dramatic turn, the Unity Forum has
pledged to work with Ekweremadu in the
event that he emerges as Senate president.
Saraki’s trial continues today at the Code of
Conduct Tribunal having failed to get a new
relief from the Federal High Court in Abuja
which ruled last Friday that the Senate
president should face trial.

Popular pastor anoints female
members' underwears

Prophet Mboro might pass as a really good
comedian.
Prophet Mboro
The controversial South African pastor
whose real name is Paseka Motsoeneng,
recently ordered his female members to
bring their panties for anointing to protect
them against evil spirit.
In an interview on Jacaranda FM yesterday
morning, the pastor allegedly claimed that
the underwear anointed by him will keep his
church members safe from evil spirits.
“Instead of laying my hand, we call that the
transferation of the anointing. I speak the
Word to those underwears. The power of God
will get in, they wear it and God does
something,” he said.
He also warned about the terrors of invisible
men known as “spiritual husbands” that stalk
ordinary people’s houses, sleeping with both
men and women.
Nawa for Pastor Mboro oo! Nah only him
waka come?

China will start importing goods from Nigeria - CBN governor

China will start importing
goods from Nigeria - CBN
governor
– China will soon start to import goods
from Nigeria, according to the CBN’s
governor
 – Godwin Emefiele also said Nigeria will
become China’s principal trading hub in the
West African region
– The governor’s revelations come shortly
after President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit
to the Asian economic giant
China will soon begin to import goods from
Nigeria, the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN)
governor Godwin Emefiele has said.

It is expected that the move will help narrow
the very wide trade gap between the two
countries.
Emefiele said the federal government is
talking with China so it would also be
importing some of its own items from
Nigeria.
Speaking at a press conference at the World
Bank headquarters in Washington on the last
day of the 2016 World Bank/IMF spring
meeting, he also said part of Nigeria’s deal
with China is that the country will
become the Asian country’s trading hub in
West Africa.
CBN governor Godwin Emefiele’s policies on
the Naira have continued to attract
controversy
“China has appointed South Africa as its
trading hub for Remnibi transactions in the
south African region, has appointed Kenya as
its trading hub for east and central Africa,” he
said.
“And Nigeria, the mandate that we signed is
for us to be appointed as the trading hub in
the West African sub region. In all, we expect
that it is going to be mutually beneficial
“We are talking to China so that it would also
be importing some of its own items from
Nigeria, so that the trading balance can be
sort of reduced.
“Will Nigeria benefit from this? I want to say
categorically that Nigeria benefits from this.
It’s less pressure on the dollar and
consequently on our reserves.”
The CBN governors’ revelations come shortly
after President Buhari’s trip to China
Emefiele added that the CBN will not change
its current policy of pegging the Naira to the
US Dollar, and will not devalue the currency
without making necessary structural reforms.
“For the first time, we are taking structural
reforms seriously in the country. We have
always talked about, oh, when you do an
adjustment, follow it up with structural
reforms.
“But we are saying this time we’ve done an
adjustment and we are following it up with
structural reform, where we are saying we
must diversify the economy away from
depending on oil.
“I’ve said it that we have seen people who are
coming in an investing, during the china trip,
we saw people who said they can now come
in instead of exporting those items into
Nigeria, they can now bring those plants into
Nigeria and begin to produce those things in
Nigeria because our climate is good,” he said

Protesters besiege Obasanjo’s house in Abeokuta

Protesters besiege Obasanjo’s
house in Abeokuta

– Group protests boundary demarcation by
the Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led
administration
– Submits petition at the residence of
former president Olusegun Obasanjo for
action on the boundary issue
– Call on members of the state House of
Assembly not to allow the ceding of some of
their communities to another LCDA
Hundreds of indigenes and residents of
Sango-Ijoko in Ado-Odo/Ota local government
area of Ogun state yesterday, April 19,
besieged the hilltop mansion of former
president Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta in
protest to what they called ‘boundary
anomaly’ of the proposed Sango-Ijoko local
council development area (LCDA) in the
state.
According to leadership, the aggrieved
protesters bearing placards with various
inscriptions, called on the former president
to save them from what they described as
unjust boundary adjustment.
The group, led by Chief Aderemi Quadri and
Chief Idowu Olaniyi expressed concern over
the proposed creation of 37 LCDAs out of
the existing 20 local government areas by
the Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led
administration which they claim will merge
their communities with that of Ota.
The group however submitted a petition at
the residence of the former president for
necessary action because he was not at
home at the time.
They then moved to the State House of
Assembly, and called on lawmakers not to
allow the ceding of some of their
communities to another LCDA.
According to them, the impending
arrangement will deprive Sango of its garage,
market, primary and secondary schools and
only health centre.
“Our primary purpose of coming here is to
press forward our agitation that our
community should not be separated or
divided. We are hearing as a matter of rumour
that part of our community will be merged
with Ota and basically these areas, Araromi,
Ketere and others are the core settlers of
Sango,” the group told the House.
At the House of Assembly complex, the
Speaker, Suraj Adekunbi, promised that the
legislature would look into their agitation and
their petition.
In another development, the publicity
secretaries of the All Progressives Congress
(APC) in the South West states have blasted
Governor Ayodele Fayose for his
questionable conduct and objection to the
$2bn China loan to Nigeria.
The Punch reports that the criticism was
contained in a statement signed by the APC
spokesmen Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya
(Ondo), Taiwo Olatunbosun (Ekiti), Sola
Lawal (Ogun), Joe Igbokwe (Lagos) and
Morakinyo Akintola (Osun).
Comparing Fayose’s behavior before and
after he assumed office for the second term,
the party’s spokesmen concluded that the
governor ‘completely lost decorum’.

immoral act on my part.
I feel disgusted by the great damage caused

daughters, followed by my husband, my
parents, brothers and entire family
It is still unclear whether Ms Garcia was
photographed by her colleague in the vehicle
or it was a selfie. But the fact she was
armed, wearing a uniform and on duty was
the main reason of criticism.
Presently, the state’s internal police
commision is investigating the case and to
decide what chrages and punishment Ms
Garcia would face.

information and culture had said that Boko
Haram insurgents have been defeated

– The chief of air staff has faulted the
minister’s claim
– The insurgents attacked Brigadier General
Victor Ezugwu, the GOC, 7 Division Nigerian
army early hours of Tuesday
Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, the chief of air
staff has said that Boko Haram insurgency
cannot be totally eradicated despite the
successes being recorded by officers and
men of Nigerian army.
Chief of air staff, Sadique Abubakar faults
FG on boko haram
Abubakar disclosed this while speaking at
the logistics command of the Nigerian
Airforce (NAF), Sam Ethna base, Lagos on
Tuesday, April 19, Daily Post reports.
The airforce boss lauded the efforts of
security agencies  under the present
administration adding that terrorist attacks in
the region have reduced to the barest
minimum in recent times.
“In the North Eastern part of Nigeria, we are
making progress. We may have challenges of
suicide bombings here and there, but that will
end soon.
“There cannot be zero violence; violence will
still be there. But everything humanly possible
will be done to have a peaceful and stable
environment in the North-East so that people
can go about their business in peace.
“We are doing so much in terms of close air
support. We are providing an enabling
environment for the surface forces to function.
We soften the ground for the surface forces to
function. We are providing logistics-in-supply,
rotational transportation, and also moving
equipment.
“In 2014 and 2015, Boko Haram was moving
in convoys of 15 or 20 vehicles from village to
village and killing people. You will agree that
that has stopped,” Abubakar said.
Meanwhile, the Lagos state government has
revealed plans to collaborate with the
Nigerian Airforce in mounting serious air
surveillance on the waterways to nip all
criminal activities in the bud.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode stated this on
Tuesday, April 19, when the chief of air staff
paid him a courtesy visit.
