chairman of the PDP in Enugu state
– Other executive members of the party
were also elected
– The new chairman promised to be
committed to the laudable programmes and
policies of the party leader, Governor
Ugwuanyi
The Enugu state chapter of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) has elected
Augustine Nnamani, a former Isi-Uzo local
government council boss as its chairman.
Others elected were, the state secretary,
Cletus Akalusi, Jude Ugwu as publicity
secretary and other members of the state
executive committee, Daily Post reports.
They were elected at the party’s congress
which held at Okpara square in Enugu.
Nnamani is from Enugu-East senatorial zone,
while the immediate past chairman is from
Enugu-North



The newly elected party chairman thanked
the leaders of the party for picking him as
their chairman, promising to work with other
party officials to strengthen and reposition
the party for the challenges ahead.
He said: “ As you have unanimously elected
me to pilot the affairs of our party, the PDP, in
Enugu state, as the chairman, I hereby accept
this responsibility with all sense of humility
and commitment in consonance with the
sound vision and mission of the leader of our
party in the state, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
“I commit myself and my leadership to the
laudable programmes and policies of his
administration, which were carefully designed
to impact positively on the lives of our people
and give them a sense of belonging .”
On his part, the state governor, Ugwuanyi
congratulated all the elected officials, calling
on all party members to give them all the
support they need to move the party
forward.

“ The task before you is the repositioning and
strengthening of our great party especially in
the light of the fact that we are now in the
opposition in the federal level is one that you
must indeed discharge without fail ,” he said.
Also speaking, the deputy Senate president,
Ike Ekweremadu said the elected officials
were lucky as their election came at a time
when there was unity among major
stakeholders of the party in the state.
Meanwhile, the Ekiti state PDP elected new
executive members at the party’s congress
held in Adetiloye Hall at Fountain Hotels in
Ado Ekiti. A former Commissioner for
Information in the state, Gboyega Oguntuase,
was elected as the new chairman and 13
others were elected as members of the
state working committee of the party.
