The 21-year-old, who has previously been a
target for Manchester United, has been
requested by Pep Guardiola and will leave
Spain after his buyout clause was met
Manchester City have wrapped up a €50
million deal for Athletic Bilbao centre-back
Aymeric Laporte , according to ETB.
The Basque media outlet claim City have told
the Liga outfit of their intention to pay the
buyout clause with Pep Guardiola requesting
the 21-year-old as part of his summer
transfer plans.
Athletic president Josu Urrutia and coach
Ernesto Valverde are aware of Laporte's
summer exit and will not stand in their star
player's way after successfully raising his
release clause four times since late 2013.
City sporting director Txiki Begiristain was in
attendance at San Mames on April 7, with
the Premier League side seeing off
competition from Barcelona, Bayern Munich,
Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
